OverComing Self Sabotage in Your Business by Wallette McCall
I used to be a self saboteur. I would wait until the last minute and let great opportunities pass me by. Or, I would psyche myself out of doing something that would be of great advantage to me. Then I would wonder why things did not work out for me as they did for others. I did not know that I was the problem! I didn’t realize was that I was afraid.
My sabotaging myself was rooted in fear. And if we really think about it, fear is generating the things we do to stop our own progression. When people sabotage themselves it is not because of lack of knowledge, skills, desire, or effort.
Some types of self sabotage are: • Being unable to get started • Self-doubt • Being unable to commit to one goal • Stuck in the creation process • Losing it all The behavior of self sabotage is when one part of you wants to achieve your goal and the other part of you doesn’t want to achieve the goal. You sabotage yourself when the part of you that does not want to achieve the goal wins the struggle. Basically, the fear you have over powers your desire to accomplish your goal. You must confront the fear that is feeding the behavior to help you in overcoming self sabotoge. Ask yourself “what is making me afraid of reaching my goal?” Then question why this makes you afraid. Challenge the fear. What is the worst case scenario? What is the best case scenario? What is the most likely outcome?
Once you have challenged the fear, empower yourself in your journey of Overcome Self Sabotage by:
1) Being decisive. Make decisions and stick to it. Trust your intuition and your intelligence.
2) Set short term and long term goals. Then take action.
3) Don’t worry about other’s perception of you. People are going to think what they want anyway so you may as well go for your goal.
4) Allow yourself to make mistakes. Learn from the mistakes and move on. OverComing Self sabotage does not have to be a part of your life all the time. You can break free from self sabotage and accomplish your goals.
